About

‘In the stage of perfection called trace, or samādhi, one’s mind is completely restrained from material mental activities by the practice of yoga. This perfection is characterized by one’s ability to see the Self by the pure mind and to relish and rejoice in the Self. In that joyous state one is situated in boundless transcendental happiness, realized through the transcendental senses. Established thus, one never departs from the truth, and upon gaining this he thinks there is no greater gain. Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of the greatest difficulty. This indeed is actual freedom from all miseries arising from material contact.’

Bhagavad Gita 6.20-23

Welcome! This site was created to offer some reflections that might help you take steps down the long and meandering path towards inner peace. The name “Becoming Imperturbable” points to the deep rooted need for stability and clarity in the midst of a chaotic world. Is there a place from which we cannot be shaken? Is there a place where we can open up to pain and sorrow, where we can meet ourselves and others with gentle compassion?

In order to find out, we must delve deep within ourselves and ask some difficult questions. What am I afraid of? What is it that I am doing in this precious life? What am I running from, or running towards? What prevents me from loving myself and others completely? It is exactly by looking bravely and non-judgmentally at these uncomfortable questions that we can begin to see the root of our tensions more clearly.

By understanding the source of our tensions we can start to untie the knots that hold us back from joyful engagement in life. We exist in a sea of pressures telling us to act in a certain way or become a particular thing, but if we cannot love ourselves and we cannot love others, what fruits can these pursuits bear? What good are riches if your heart screams or whimpers in pain and loneliness?

By looking clearly at the state of the reality we live in, we can come into closer harmony with the truth of things. As we align ourselves with truth, it will feel less and less like life is pushing us around. It is from this place of equanimity that we are finally free to express our creativity and bring our gifts to the world. It is from this place of open acceptance that we are finally able to let go of fear and embrace the journey of life with enthusiasm and joy.

I have no interest in convincing you of anything. I only hope that these investigations may help you to learn more about yourself and find some peace. When you search with an open heart, teachings can be found anywhere. Therefore, in my writings you will find influences from Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Physics, Philosophy, Psychedelics, and much more. Thank you for making the effort to better yourself, it is the greatest gift you can give the world.
